In July 2021, we completed the successful translocation of 200 buffalo from North Luangwa National Park to Nsumbu National Park, on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Zambia. The 700km move aimed to boost Nsumbu National Parks’s current buffalo population!

This two-week operation was the culmination of over two-year’s worth of planning on Nsumbu’s side. The move represents a historic milestone in the recovery of the Nsumbu Mweru Ecosystem, and was the first step towards their program realising further translocation aspirations.
