We performed a number of translocations in 2021 between reserves in South Africa. When parks are fenced in, the elephant populations have no option to migrate, and as a result, there is no opportunity for new genetics. These translocations aimed to introduce new genetics into the respective local populations.

A family group and bulls were relocated to Phinda Private Game Reserve from Tembe Elephant, and similarly a family group of elephants were translocated from Phinda to a reserve near Hoedspruit.
